New Range of Kayak Trolleys and Roof Rack Bars - December 2015
goes without saying that kayaks are expensive, so we wanted to
be able to offer our customers the proper equipment to safely
and easily transport their kayaks. Whether you are going out for
the day or undertaking an epic adventure, this November we released
a new range of great value products that will help you get your
kayak to your favourite launching site and back home again with
as little hassle as possible.
use of a kayak trolley is becoming more and more popular as increasing
numbers of people discover the joys of sea kayaking and want to
take their boats to remote locations. Our kayak
trolleys can allow a person to single handedly move a kayak
with ease, a job that would normally require two people.
Until the release of our new range of kayak trolleys we manufactured
one model, what is now known as the Model B. As we love to always
be innovating, we developed three additional models to compliment
our customers' ever changing needs.
Our compact Model A trolley is for taking with you in or on your
kayak, whereas the "top of the range" and durable Model
C trolley is perfect for getting larger kayaks across challenging
terrain. Finally, our sit on top trolley was specifically designed
to fit most sit on top kayaks.
A kayak trolleyis the most compact in size within our new
trolley range. It can be used for a variety of different sized
kayaks and canoes. It is strong enough for most types of kayaks
as it has a carrying capacity of 60kg.
For a smooth ride, the Model A features pneumatic tyres which
are made just like car tyres with a tough rubber outer and an
inflatable inner tube.
The frame of the Model A is made of anodised aluminium with stainless
steel and plastic fittings which makes it resistant to corrosion,
although we do recommend rinsing it in fresh water after use.
We supply a tie-down strap with the trolley which clips together.
This is used to hold the kayak on top of the trolley and is particularly
useful when travelling over rougher ground.
The wheels of the trolley are removable and the trolley folds
flat so it may fit in the hatches of some sea kayaks. Alternatively,
it can be lashed to the deck of other boats. Either way, it's
ideal for taking with you on your trips in the event that you
need to portage your boat.
was the first design of kayak trolley that we started manufacturing
and we are still very proud of it. The Model B is made of anodised
aluminium with stainless steel and plastic fittings. The wheels
of the trolley are removable so it can be folded flat, making
it easier to transport and store.
Although the Model
B kayak trolley is bigger than our new Model
A, the Model B may still fit into some sea kayak hatches. If not
it can be lashed on to the boat if you will need the trolley later
Our trolleys are designed to carry most kayaks and canoes but
we recommend a maximum weight of 60KG when in use.
Our kayak trolleys are commonly used for portage or for helping
get your boat down to the water's edge from a car. Sometimes our
trolleys are taken on the trip so they are available at the other
end if you are camping overnight and need to move your boat to
your campsite. Alternatively, they can be left in the car for
a return type journey.
C kayak trolleys are our top of the range offering
as they are ideal for many different sizes of kayaks and canoes.
It is rated for larger kayaks or canoes and has a carrying capacity
The wide format tyres on the Model C are made from the latest
durable and pliable solid rubber so they won't puncture. Although
solid in design, the trolley still gives a cushioned ride and
the wider wheels give excellent support on soft ground such as
sand or wet grass. This means the tyres are less likely to sink
in than rounder tyres.
Your kayak is held on top of the trolley using the clip together
tie down strap which is supplied with the trolley. Using this
strap helps keep your kayak on top on the trolley when travelling
over rougher ground, making the Model C perfect for portage over
As the kayak trolley is made of anodised aluminium with stainless
steel and plastic fittings, it is resistant to corrosion however
we do recommend rinsing it in fresh water after use. We also recommend
you rinse the trolley down after use in sea water to prevent a
build up of salt in the mechanism and this will help extend the
life of the trolley.
The wheels of the trolley can be removed in seconds by removing
the two "quick pins" from the axle and simply sliding
the wheels off to the side. The trolley will then fold flat allowing
for easy stowage. Although the Model C will be too large to fit
in the hatches of most sea kayaks, it can however be lashed to
the deck of a boat if you wish to take it with you on your trip.
Our kayak trolleys make portage so much easier and can more than
half the transit time between locations. For some people a trolley
might just be used for the journey from their car to the water's
edge; others may wish to move their kayak inland to a campsite
or move a boat to a different part of an island for a launch.
Whatever the journey, a kayak trolley is likely to make it a much
faster and easier experience overall.
On Top kayak trolleys are made of anodised aluminium
with stainless steel and plastic fittings. This means the trolley
is resistant to corrosion however we do recommend rinsing it in
fresh water after use.
We are really pleased with the design of this trolley and believe
that our customers will love using it. The trolley support rods
fit through the scupper holes of most sit on top kayaks and the
distance between the two arms can be easily adjusted so it can
hold different widths of kayaks.
The Sit On Top kayak trolley's wheels are pneumatic and are made
just like car tyres with a tough rubber outer and an inflatable
inner tube. The wheels are also removable in seconds by removing
the two quick-pins from the axle and simply sliding the wheels
off to the side. This makes the trolley easier to store.
the years here at Lomo we have noticed a growing demand from our
customers to sell quality kayak
roof rack bars at a more realistic price. We went
all out to design a complete range of products that would suit the
individual needs of our customers. What we have produced is truly
outstanding in terms of quality, performance, ease of use and most
importantly, value for money.
tube kayak J bars are a very popular method of
transporting a kayak around the country. They are designed to
fit onto a range of roof racks and will keep your kayak firmly
attached to the roof rack when in transit. The dual purpose mountings
should fit traditional square-section roof rack bars and also
many modern roof racks that have a wider and flatter section.
Within the box you are supplied with the following contents: 2
x J bars, 2 x mounting kits, 2 x roof rack straps and 2 x nose
and tail ties. This means that you have all the bits and pieces
to fix the bars on to your roof rack. You don't even need a screwdriver
or Allen key because the bolts are designed so that they can be
tightened or loosened by hand.
If your roof rack is strong enough you can use 2 pairs of J bars
to carry a pair of kayaks at the same time and as our J bars are
made from robust tube steel and are factory painted, they will
live a long life.

you need to assemble the bars and fix them to your roof rack.
You don't even need an Allen key or screwdriver because the thumb
nuts are designed so they can be tightened or loosened by hand.
Our J bars are made from strong steel components and they have
been factory painted to make them resistant to corrosion. The
J Bars also have slotted holes to slide the roof rack straps through
and this reduces the potential movement of the kayak and strap
during a journey.
As always, care should be taken when fitting the J bars onto your
roof rack. It is good practice to check the bars and straps before
you set off, making sure that all parts are securely fastened
together and all straps are sufficiently tight for the journey
kayak roof rack L bars are designed to fit a range
of roof racks and will keep your kayak firmly attached when in
transit. With dual purpose mountings, our L bars should fit both
traditional square section roof rack bars and also many more modern
roof racks that have a wider and flatter section.
The main reason why our customers will be looking for L bars instead
of the other models we now sell is because L bars allow you to
hold a kayak on either side of the bars. Although the L bars do
not cradle the kayak or kayaks, this design is very popular as
they take up less space on your roof rack.
Within the box you get the following contents: 2 x J bars, 2 x
mounting kits and 2 x roof rack straps. This is everything you
need to assemble and fix the L bars to your roof rack and you
don't need a screwdriver or Allen key because the thumb nuts can
be screwed by hand.
It is also worth noting that if your roof rack is strong enough
you can use several pairs of L bars to carry multiple boats at
the same time and as our L bars are made from robust steel and
are factory painted, they should live a long life.
kayak V bars are designed to fit a range of roof
racks and keep your kayak firmly attached when you're on the move.
The dual purpose mountings are designed so they should fit both
traditional square section roof rack bars and also many modern
roof racks that have a wider and flatter section.
The box of the V bars contains all the necessary parts to assemble
and fix the V bars to your roof rack without the need of a screwdriver
or Allen Key. The thumb nuts can be tightened or loosened by hand.
The box contains: 4x V bar sections which make up 2x complete
V bars, 4x mounting kits and 2 x roof rack straps.
V bars are an extremely popular method of transporting a kayak
as they allow the boat to remain in a flat position during transport.
The V bars are shaped to cradle the hull of the boat and as they
are made from robust steel and factory painted, they should live
a long life.
